WESTERN AUSTRALIA’S BEST SURFING SCHOOL WILL BE CROWNED AT TRIGG BEACH THIS FRIDAY

Students from across the state are getting ready for an electrifying finale, as the 2024 Think Mental Health WA School Surfing Titles State Final prepares to hit Trigg Beach this Friday, where the top surfing school in Western Australia will be crowned!

After ten thrilling regional and metropolitan qualifying events that saw schools from Exmouth to Esperance and everywhere in between compete, the stage is set for an epic showdown as the best surfing schools in WA come together for a grand final like no other.

Surfing WA’s biggest participation-based event of the year, the Think Mental Health WA School Surfing Titles has seen over 50 high schools and 400+ teams of secondary students don their wetsuits in a series that promotes surfing and bodyboarding in the modern curriculum.

This event isn’t just about the thrill of the ride; it’s also a gateway to higher levels of competition. The top surfing teams from Friday’s final will earn the honour of representing WA and their school at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles in Wollongong, NSW, where they’ll take on the best surfing schools from across the nation.

Friday will see over 60 teams battle it out in a safe, fun, and high-energy environment, showcasing bodyboarding and surfing, with divisions on offer for juniors, seniors, boys and girls.

“Over 50 regional and metropolitan high schools have nominated over 400 teams this year, and we’ve seen some exciting new talent emerge,” said Surfing WA Events Manager Justin Majeks. “While the conditions have been rather testing, the atmosphere has been truly exciting.”

Margaret River Senior High School, will be back to depend their title and secure a record 19th consecutive Champion School Title, with a team bursting with talent and determination.

Surfing Western Australia is proud to partner with Healthway to promote the Think Mental Health message, emphasising the importance of physical and mental well-being to thousands of students through surfing. As well as the surfing and bodyboarding their will be chill-out zones, interactive activations, prizes, giveaways and much, much more happening.

The School Surfing State Final will commence at 8am on Friday and will wrap around 3:00pm. Onshore winds and a moderate swell are forecast, which will keep competitors on their toes as they chase glory for their school.
