TRIGG BEACH GEARS UP FOR WA JUNIOR SURFING TITLES SHOWDOWN THIS WEEK

Published on 10/06/2026

Trigg Beach, WA/AUS (Wednesday 10th June 2026), Froth levels are building ahead the second event of the Club Med WA State Junior Surfing Titles presented by Think Mental Health, with close to 100 of Western Australia’s best junior surfers preparing to compete along Perth’s metropolitan beaches later this week.

A horde of WA’s top young surfers aged between 8 and 17 are set to converge on Perth’s iconic Trigg Beach from Friday 12 June to Sunday 14 June, for the second of three events that make up the WA State Junior Surfing Titles series.

Many of WA’s top surfers cut their teeth competing at the Junior Titles as grommets, with Taj Burrow (Yallingup), Ry Craike (Kalbarri), Creed McTaggart (Margaret River), Jack Robinson (Margaret River), Claire Bevilacqua (Yallingup), Jacob Willcox (Margaret River), and Bronte Macaulay (Gracetown), all claiming prestigious State Championships in the past.

Following a strong opening event earlier this year, competitors will now shift their focus to Perth’s metropolitan coastline, with plenty on the line as surfers look to back up strong performances, make their presence felt on the rankings, and gain valuable momentum heading into the final event of the series in Geraldton next month.

Olive Hardy (Margaret River), Poppy Redman-Carr (Dunsborough), Ace Flynn (Cowaramup), Leila Fraser(Margaret River), Rosie Gillett (Dunsborough), Brody Mulik (Margaret River), Cruz Macdonald (Geraldton), Jasper Glossop (Margaret River), and Ily Fraser (Margaret River), will head to Trigg as the top-seeded surfers after an impressive start to the year.

They’ll face no shortage of opposition from local surfers, as well as those traveling from the regions to compete.

One surfer to keep a close eye on this weekend is Margaret River’s Olive Hardy, who arrives at Trigg in red-hot form. Hardy has enjoyed a standout start to 2026, claiming the Queen of the Point title at King of the Point, securing victory in the Under-18 Girls division at the opening round of the WA Junior Surfing Titles, and recently being crowned WA Open Women’s State Champion. With confidence high and momentum firmly on her side, Hardy will be one of the leading contenders as she looks to continue her impressive run of results.

Surfing WA high-performance coaches Ian “Wooly” Macpherson, Emma Cattlin and Mia McCarthy will be on-beach throughout the event, mentoring and guiding WA’s newest generation of surfing stars.

“This is a really important event, we’ve got competitors looking to back up their results from Margaret River, or make their presence felt on the rankings heading into the final event of the series in Geraldton in July,” said Surfing WA Regional Development Manager, Kim Clift. “We’ve got some amazing talent here in Western Australia and I wish all of our competitors the very best of luck.”

Heats will commence on Friday at 8am. You can follow live scores and results from the Club Med WA State Junior Surfing Titles via www.liveheats.com.
