CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON PERTH SURF PARK, BRINGING WORLD-CLASS WAVES CLOSER FOR WA SURFERS

Published on 02/04/2026

TRIGG BEACH WA/AUS (Thursday 2nd April 2026) – Construction of the long-anticipated Perth Surf Park is now underway, marking a major milestone for a project set to deliver consistent, high-quality waves to Western Australian surfers.

Located in Jandakot, the surf park will form part of a new surf, leisure and wellbeing destination for Perth, with the first waves expected in Spring 2027 ahead of a public opening later that year.

Delivered by global surf park developer and operator Aventuur, the precinct will centre around a 62-module Wavegarden Cove surfing lagoon, one of the largest of its kind in the world, capable of producing consistent waves for surfers of all abilities in a safe, controlled environment.

The development will also include a surfing members’ clubhouse, high-performance surf academy, wellness studio, retail and equipment facilities, outdoor training areas and a skate park, alongside hospitality venues and accommodation designed to create a year-round surf destination.

Aventuur Chair and Chief Development Officer Andrew Ross said beginning construction marked a defining moment for the project.

“Today marks a significant milestone for the Perth Surf Park, and for everyone who has been part of the journey,” Ross said.

“For Perth, this is about delivering a truly special community asset that embodies our surfing history, culture and coastal lifestyle – a destination that is by the West, for the West.”

WA Deputy Premier and Minister for Sport and Recreation Rita Saffioti said the project would be a major addition to the State’s sport and recreation infrastructure.

“The Perth Surf Park has been a long-anticipated project, and it is fantastic to see construction now underway,” she said.

Surfing WA CEO Mark Lane said the project would provide new opportunities for the surfing community.

“It will complement our natural coastline, reduce pressure on crowded breaks, and create new opportunities for participation and athlete development right on Perth’s doorstep,” Lane said.

The Perth Surf Park is expected to create more than 280 jobs during construction and around 100 full-time roles once operational, while contributing more than $300 million to the Western Australian economy over its operating life.

Membership waitlist registrations for the facility are now open.
