GERALDTON SET FOR THRILLING WA JUNIOR SURFING TITLES FINALE

Published on 17/07/2026

TRIGG BEACH, WA/AUS (Friday 17th July 2026), Geraldton’s Batavia Coast is set to host the third and final stop of the 2026 Club Med WA Junior Surfing Titles, presented by Think Mental Health this weekend, as more than 80 of WA’s top junior surfers prepare to battle it out for state glory and a coveted spot representing WA at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles in front of a home crowd in Margaret River later this year.

Aged between 8 and 17, competitors will travel from across the state to compete in a high stakes finish to the series, with five state titles still up for grabs. Many of WA’s top surfers, including Taj Burrow, Jack Robinson, Claire Bevilacqua, Jacob Willcox and Bronte Macaulay, first made their mark at the WA Junior Surfing Titles before going on to compete on the world stage.

After events in Margaret River in March and Trigg Beach in June, the series finale will play out across the weekend at Flat Rocks, south of Geraldton. Many competitors have recently sharpened their skills at the Occy Grom Comp and Soundboks Oz Grom Open on the east coast and will arrive in Geraldton ready to perform.

The Mid-West will be proudly represented by local favourite and 2025 Under-16 Boys State Champion, Cruz Macdonald. Cruz is joined by a strong local contingent, including Callum Sojan in the Under-18 Boys; Koby MacDonald and Sonny Miles in the Under-16 Boys; Jessica Quayle and Pearl Ryan in the Under-16 Girls; Corbyn Gordon in the Under-14 Boys; Mahlee Finney in the Under-12 Girls; and Kalani Carter and Ryder Jones in the Under-12 Micro Grom Boys.

Surfing WA’s high-performance coaching team, including Ian (Wooly) Macpherson, Mia McCarthy and Emma Cattlin, will be on site to provide tailored coaching, mentoring and video analysis to support the next generation of WA surfers.

“Geraldton is an ideal surfing destination at this time of year,” said Surfing WA Regional Manager Kim Clift. “We’ve got some great conditions lining up to start the event, and it’s exciting to see who will join Kyuss Rimmer, Lily Naylor and Olive Hardy as our 2026 State Champions.”

Competition will get underway next Friday at Flat Rocks. Event organisers will look to make the most of the available swell and weather, with finals set to wrap up over the weekend.
