TRIGG BEACH, WA/AUS (Wednesday 26th March 2025), The metropolitan beaches biggest and longest-running surfing competition returns to Trigg Point this week, with the 2025 Corsaire Aviation King of the Point, presented by the City of Stirling, welcoming WA’s fiercest wave warriors who will fight for their crown.
With a tricky forecast ahead, only the most skilled and determined surfers will rise above the rest to claim their place on the throne and into West Australian surfing history. As WA swelters through an autumn heatwave, summer-like surf conditions are forecast to greet competitors, with the action in and out of the water set to be red-hot, with some of the state’s best surfers putting on a show under the scorching sun.
Since 1980, the King of the Point has been the proving ground for champions, with past winners including legendary names such as Mike McAuliffe (Margaret River), Dave Macaulay (Gracetown), Jake Paterson (Yallingup), Jacob Willcox (Margaret River), and Claire Bevilacqua (Yallingup).
Now, a new generation of challengers prepares to etch their own names in the history books. All eyes will be on reigning King of the Point Jake Hagan (Geraldton), as he gears up to defends his title against a powerful lineup, including south west surfers Jack Mitchell (Margaret River), Macklin Flynn (Margaret River), and Maverick Wilson (Dunsborough).
But Perth’s own surfing knights Luke Campbell (Scarborough), Jake Molloy (Yokine), and Fletcher Llanwarne (Sorrento), will be determined to keep the crown on home turf.
Margaret River’s Ruby Berry will be out to add another Queen of the Point crown to her impressive trophy cabinet, fresh off her win at the WA Surf Masters Championships recently. Berry will face a court of elite challengers, including former event winner Emma Cattlin (Yallingup), Kaleisha Launders (Margaret River) and Grace Cook (Cowaramup). With skill, power, and unwavering determination, these competitors will battle for the right to wear the crown.
With over $10,000 in cash and prizes on the line, competitors will charge into battle across a variety of divisions, from the prestigious King and Queen of the Point, to the Lords, Dukes, Princes, Princesses, and even the Jesters of the Point, all vying for their own moment of triumph.
The champions of the King and Queen divisions will earn a golden ticket to the 2025 Think Mental Health WA Local Trials for the upcoming World Surf League (WSL) Margaret River Pro in May, bringing them one step closer to the international stage.
The King of the Point is a celebration of surfing’s deeper impact, offering not just fierce rivalries, but also camaraderie, mental resilience, and a love for the ocean that unites all who enter its waters. Every surfer who paddles out will be part of something bigger, a legacy of passion, perseverance, and pure stoke, that first began 45 years ago.
