THE 2025 WEST COAST SUSPENSIONS WA SURF MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS PREPARES FOR ACTION IN MARGARET RIVER

The countdown is on as the 2025 West Coast Suspensions WA Surf Masters Championships presented by Think Mental Health, prepares to bring the state’s most experienced and electrifying surfers together in an epic showdown for prestigious state titles, national qualification, and a shot at professional surf stardom.

The stunning shores of Margaret River will once again transform into a high-stakes battlefield as Western Australia’s finest wave riders take on the region’s powerful surf in a thrilling contest of skill, style, and strategy.

Kicking off this Friday, this event is set to deliver non-stop action with eleven fiercely contested divisions ready to hit the water, ensuring an exhilarating mix of raw talent and seasoned wave mastery.

With spots on the line for the Australian Shortboard Titles in Wollongong, NSW, the stakes are high, as surfers compete for the right to represent WA on a national stage against the country’s top surfers in August.

But the journey doesn’t stop there! Thanks to the Think Mental Health Pathway to the Pro initiative, the champions of the Open Men’s and Open Women’s divisions will secure exclusive entry into the Think Mental Health WA Trials. This prestigious opportunity could see them go head-to-head with the world’s best at the World Surf League Western Australia Margaret River Pro in May, making this championship a pivotal launchpad for future surf stars.

“This is where past legends meet the rising stars of our future,” said Surfing WA Events Manager Justin Majeks.“The level of talent on display will be incredible, and with so much on the line, we’re expecting some explosive performances.”

Returning to defend his Open Men’s state title will be 17 year old Maverick Wilson (Dunsborough), who will lead a stacked field of competitors, all hungry for victory.

Local surfers including Ruby BerryOkie FraserJack Mitchell, Finn Cox, Andrew Sheridan and Jerome Forrest, will be surfers to keep a close eye on, bringing both experience and talent to the table.

From the northern swells of Geraldton to the rugged breaks of Esperance, surfers of all generations will converge in Margaret River, to compete in divisions spanning from Under-21’s to Over-65’s.

With a forecast predicting powerful and challenging conditions, competitors will need every ounce of skill and determination to conquer the waves and their competitors.

Action will kick off at 7:40am on Friday, with finals set for Sunday, ensuring three days of adrenaline fuelled performances.
