The Yallingup region is preparing to once again play host to some of Western Australia’s most talented young surfers, with the 2024 Woolworths WA Junior Surfing Titles presented by Think Mental Health gearing up for a start later this week.
Over 100 young grommets aged from 8 to 17 years are preparing to showcase their skills in what promises to be nothing short of a three-day surfing extravaganza, with competition commencing Friday and running through til Sunday.
Hot off the back of the recent Taj’s Small Fries event in January, competitors will converge from all of WA’s surfing regions for the first of three events that will decide the team to represent WA at the prestigious 2024 Woolworths Australian Junior Surfing Titles, in NSW later this year.
Competitors will look to carve their way into WA surfing history, following in the footsteps of local legends like Jack Robinson (Margaret River), Bronte Macaulay (Gracetown), and Jacob Willcox (Margaret River), who all made their start competing in these very events as youngsters.
Like the weather forecast, competition is set to be red-hot, with talent spread across the board, with Okie Fraser (Margaret River), Maverick Wilson (Dunsborough), Ruby Berry (Margaret River), and Kaleisha Launders (Margaret River), the ones to watch in the electrifying Under-18 showdowns.
Despite a small swell forecast, Yallingup is primed to deliver some epic conditions, setting the stage for an unforgettable opening round of competition.
