VALE RY DEMPSEY 2003-2020

Surfing WA is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our own, Margaret River’s Ry Dempsey.

A talented shortboarder, Ry first joined Surfing WA in 2013. He captured the Under-12 Micro Groms State Title in 2014, before representing WA at National Titles in 2015 on North Stradbroke, QLD and 2016 on Phillip Island, VIC in the Under-14 Boys division.

Ry was a much-loved member of the south-west surfing community and part of the Surfing WA family. He will be fondly remembered for his infectious smile, energy and enthusiasm both in and out of the water.

The words are hard to find, but the memories are still so bright of a life lost far too soon.

Our thoughts go out the Dempsey family as well as the members of the Margaret River and Cowaramup Boardriders Clubs.

A paddle out took place last weekend, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated with more information on plans to further commemorate and celebrate Ry’s life in the days and weeks to come.
