WA’S ILY FRASER WINS THE UNDER-14 GIRLS AT PARKO’S JUNIOR PRO IN QUEENSLAND

SUNSHINE COAST, QUEENSLAND (Wednesday, 9 April 2025) – Finals Day at Moffat Beach saw the juniors pursue victory at Parko’s Junior Pro pres. by Campbell Construction Co. The event featured textbook surfing across all divisions, as competitors gave it their all in Australia’s premier junior surf competition.

The two-foot point break provided the perfect platform for over 270 surfers to showcase their advanced competitive skills, with divisions spanning from Under 12 Boys and Girls to the elite Under 18 categories.

Sunshine Coast local and top-seed Mitchell Peterson was named champion after an intense face-off against Henry DowlingPeterson surfed an excellent heat, finishing with 12.66 points (out of a possible 20) in the difficult afternoon surf conditions.

Peterson shared his excitement about earning 10,000 points following the intense six-day competition.

“I’m stoked to get the win and it was really cool to surf the final against my best mate Henry,” said Peterson.

“We have been growing up surfing together our whole lives, so it was a really enjoyable final. Conditions were definitely hard, but I am thrilled to get the win and I’m looking forward to next year’s Parko’s Junior Pro!”

Alice Hodgson was the victor of the Under 18 Girls division, dominating her heat with her highest single wave score being a 7.17 against the ISA World Junior Champion, Ziggy Mackenzie.

Kade Kelly delivered a standout performance in the Under 16 Boys final against Rio Luther Barr, earning an impressive 8-point ride. He celebrated his win with friends, who carried him up the beach in triumph.

Top seed, Eliza Richardson claimed victory in the Under 16 Girls final against the inaugural Parko’s Junior Pro champion, Miller-May Berg in a nail-biting final.

Joel “Parko” Parkinson spent the day at Moffat Beach spectating, commentating and awarding the victors at the presentation.

Parko expressed his enthusiasm to be running the event at one of his favourite locations in the event’s second consecutive year.

“Thank you so much to all our sponsors, especially Campbell Construction Co for presenting, it wouldn’t be possible without you,” said Parko.

“All the competitors put on incredible performances, and we’re truly grateful to the parents for the amazing support you give to both the juniors and the event overall. We’re excited to bring it back next year and hope to see you all there!”
