WESTERN AUSTRALIAN LONGBOARDERS SET TO SHINE AT THE 2024 AUSTRALIAN LONGBOARD TITLES

Published on 11/09/2024

A talented group of Western Australia’s best longboarders are gearing up to make their mark at the 2024 Australian Longboard Titles. The prestigious event will unfold over six days, from Thursday September 12, to Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

This year, the competition will run as a stand-alone event as part of the Australian Surf Championships, set on Bundjalung Country on the Tweed Coast in northern New South Wales. Potential competition locations include Cabarita Beach, Hastings Point, Kingscliff Beach, Fingal Beach and Duranbah Beach.

Surfing Australia Event Director Rohan Fell said: “We’re looking forward to seeing the longboard divisions of the Australian Surf Championships at a new location that is suited to their style of surfing.”

West Australian Longboard Team Captain, Matthew Inman, said the WA team were feeling confident heading into the competition.

“It’s my first time acting as captain, but I know we’ve got a strong team with a lot of experience there that I can draw upon,” said Inman. “I’m lucky enough to have made the team and I’m just going to give it my best and fly the flag for WA.”

Inman believes the waves along the Tweed coast will suit the surfing style of the WA team.

“It’s a beautiful part of the country and coastline,” he said. “We’ve got a lot of strong surfers who are used to surfing over east and in different conditions down south and up north here in WA, so I’m sure they’ll put in a strong performance.”
