2025 AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR ONLINE SURF CHAMPIONSHIPS, POWERED BY MOPHIE

CASUARINA, NSW (May 8, 2025): Australia’s top junior surfers have been crowned in the 2025 Australian Junior Online Surf Championships, with division winners now walking away with a game-changing 8,500 points toward the national Junior Series rankings.

Held between April 28 and May 4, the online format gives young surfers around the country — from Under 12 to Under 18 — the chance to showcase their talent by submitting video clips across age divisions and specialised categories: Best Wave, Best Air, Best Barrel and Best Wipeout.

Standout performers included Leihani Zoric (NSW) and Talia Tebb (NSW), who each claimed dual titles, alongside explosive aerialist Max McGillivray (NSW) and barrel master Kash Brown (NSW).

The significant bump in ranking points made this year’s event the most valuable yet, offering participants a meaningful step forward in the national standings and increasing accessibility for those unable to regularly compete in major qualifying events.

About the Australian Junior Online Surf Championships:
The online surfing competition was set up during COVID to provide equal opportunities for Australian juniors at their local breaks without state qualification required. Its success has seen the event continue with a boost in National Junior Rankings points in 2023.

Surfing Australia and Head Olympic Judge, Glen Elliott, led a three-person panel, with surfers being judged on their best one wave via online video submission. Competitors were able to swap out their entries right until the close of the competition window.

The Australian Junior Online Surf Championships are supported by Surfing Australia, Surfing NSW, Surfing Queensland, Surfing Victoria, Surfing Western Australia, Surfing South Australia and Surfing Tasmania.
