CELEBRATING WOMEN IN SURFING: SURFING WA TO HOST “WOMEN IN SURFING CELEBRATION” IN TRIGG

Published on 10/06/2026

Trigg Beach, WA/AUS (Wednesday 10th June 2026), Surfing WA will host the Women in Surfing Celebration on Saturday 13 June 2026, a special day designed to celebrate how far women’s surfing has come in WA and inspire a new generation with the message that there are more pathways than ever to be involved in the sport — in and out of the water.

This celebration has been made possible thanks to CITS, who have supported Surfing WA’s initiatives to develop women in surfing for many years. With that long-term backing, Surfing WA has been able to build meaningful opportunities for participation, connection and leadership, and this event is a chance to recognise that progress and the people behind it.

The Women in Surfing Celebration will run across two distinct sessions, each tailored to a different audience:

Morning Session (7:00–9:00am) — a conversation-style breakfast focused on belonging, confidence, community and the life-changing impact of the ocean.

Sundowner Session (5:00–8:00pm) — an evening celebration centred on possibility, pathways and the future of women in surfing, bringing the wider community together.

With guest speakers Jodie Cooper and Lizzie Nunn leading the sessions, and Olive Hardy joining the sundowner as the rising junior talent, the event brings together past, present and future voices of women in surfing.

“Surfing has changed massively since I was coming up. Back then, women were often treated like an afterthought and we had to fight hard just to be taken seriously,” said Jodie Cooper. “What I love now is seeing girls and women walk into surfing with more support, more respect, and more pathways. This celebration is about recognising how far we’ve come, and making sure the next generation knows there’s a place for them in the lineup, and in the sport, in whatever way they choose.”

The Women in Surfing Celebration is free to attend, but registrations are essential (limited capacity per session). For more information, visit www.surfingwa.com.au
