The National Rankings System will become available to all age divisions as the rollout continues in the coming seasons.

National Rankings Administrator Glen Elliott said: “ For the first time this easy to use, nationwide ranking system is available to any junior competitive surfer competing in our affiliated events. It will be a game-changer for athletes, coaches, state branches and program facilitators. We are stoked to launch the system and look forward to watching it help produce more world champions in the years to come.”

Athletes will be able to get a live gauge on how they are positioned after each event and will be able to develop a clear picture of the pathway they need to take with their own goals in mind. The new system will also give clarity to coaches across the country, including individual athlete’s coaches, state branch staff and Surfing Australia’s High Performance/Talent ID Program leaders.

Surfing Australia CEO Chris Mater said: “This new system is designed to give surfers a fair way to rank everyone from top to bottom. Time and budget management is critical for the modern pro junior, so being able to really pinpoint the best events to enter, and plan out the year in advance through the data our new ranking system provides will be a massive help to those who utilise it.”
