Prepare to witness the grandeur and spectacle of Perth’s premier surf tournament as it returns to Trigg Point this week! The 2024 Corsaire Aviation King of the Point, presented by the City of Stirling, beckons forth the noblest and most daring surfers from across Western Australia to grace the metropolitan shores with their prowess and valour.
Since its inception in 1979, the King of the Point has stood as a beacon of majesty and excellence, etching its name into the annals of Western Australia’s most revered events, with many of WA’s finest surfers taking wins in the past including Mike McAuliffe (Margaret River), Dave Macaulay (Gracetown), Jake Paterson (Yallingup), Jacob Willcox (Margaret River) and Claire Bevilacqua (Yallingup), to name just a few.
The battleground shall be ablaze with passion both on the waves and within the hearts of the competitors, as the finest knights of the waves converge upon Trigg Point to vie for a treasure trove exceeding $10k in riches.
Adding excitement to the royal festivities, a pathway to the esteemed World Surf League (WSL) Margaret River Pro awaits the champions of the King and Queen of the Point divisions, with the final two positions into the 2024 WA Local Trials up for grabs.
An assembly of elite surfers will be drawn to Trigg from across the noble regions of Western Australia, ready to lay siege upon the Kingdom of Trigg, vying for the crown and the glory it bestows.
Current Open Men’s State Champion Maverick Wilson (Dunsborough) shall clash blades with regional rivals including Jake Hagan (Geraldton), Jack Mitchell (Margaret River) Okie Fraser (Margaret River) and Alex McGuffin (Margaret River). Yet, the valiant defenders of Trigg, Luke Campbell, Jake Molloy, and Fletcher Llanwarne, shall strive to keep the crown within the sanctum of their home beach.
Defending Queen of the Point Ruby Berry (Margaret River), will be back to defend her crown at Trigg Point. She’ll take on former Queen of the Point Emma Cattlin (Yallingup) and rising stars Olive Hardy (Margaret River), Grace Cook (Cowaramup) and Kaleisha Launders (Margaret River).
Seasoned Lords and Dukes will represent the elders of the waves, with the burgeoning Princes and Princesses set to be an impressive display, and the youthful Jesters will bring unlimited froth and excitement to the waters of Trigg Point.
Corsaire Aviation continue to honour the legacy of surfing in Western Australia for the seventh consecutive year, in partnership with Surfing WA, the esteemed custodian of the sport’s heritage.
