TRIGG BEACH GEARS UP FOR WA JUNIOR SURFING TITLES SHOWDOWN THIS WEEK

Published on 04/06/2025

TRIGG BEACH, WA/AUS (Wednesday 4th June 2025) – Trigg Beach is primed and forecast to be pumping, as Western Australia’s best junior surfers prepare to light up Perth’s metro coastline later this week, for stop two of the 2025 WA Junior Surfing Titles presented by Think Mental Health.

With a three-day run of ideal surf conditions on the horizon, excitement is building, as 100 groms aged 8 to 17 prepare to battle it out in the second of three crucial qualifying events for the 2025 Australian Junior Surfing Titles to be held in South Australia this November.

Trigg Beach offers a dynamic canvas of lefts and rights, providing the perfect platform for WA’s next generation of surfing talent to unleash their potential.

After a thrilling start to the series in Margaret River, the stakes have never been higher, as surfers look to consolidate their rankings and keep their national title dreams alive. The stage is set as frothing micro-groms through to power-packed teens prepare to leave their mark on Trigg Beach.

“We’ve got a great run of surf on the way and a solid field of competitors ready to put on a show,” said Surfing WA Events Manager Justin Majeks. “It’s always nice to host such a big event at our home beach, the local energy, the community support, and the chance to showcase the state’s best juniors is something we really look forward to.”

Hot off the back of the recent World Surf League (WSL) Western Australia Margaret River Pro, the excitement levels are palpable, with surfers from across the state hoping to follow in the footsteps of local heroes Jack Robinson, Jacob Willcox, Bronte Macaulay and Willow Hardy, who all competed in the seventh event of the Championship Tour last month.

Rising stars like Okie Fraser (Margaret River), and Olive Hardy (Margaret River), will lead the charge in the blue-ribbon Under-18 divisions, while Ace Flynn (Cowaramup), Grace Cook (Cowaramup), Jasper Glossop (Vasse) and Ily Fraser (Margaret River), will be out set to defend their round one victories.

Surfing WA’s network of elite high performances coaches will be on hand throughout the event, with Ian ‘Wooly’ Macpherson and Emma Cattlin supporting surfers with guidance on heat tactics, wave selection and performance insights as they chase titles and personal bests.

Competition is set to kick off from 7:40am Friday, with champions to be crowned on Sunday afternoon.

Spectators are encouraged to head down and soak up the action, with the waves in front of Surfing WA HQ offering the perfect viewing platform and facilities for friends, families, and surf fans alike.

Live scores and heat draws will be available at www.liveheats.com, with highlights, photos and updates to be shared across Surfing WA’s social media channels throughout the event.
