Some of Western Australia’s top longboarders are preparing to hit the road for one of the year’s most anticipated surf events – the 2025 West Coast Suspensions WA Longboard Championships, presented by Think Mental Health, kicking off this Friday in Denmark.
A favourite on the Surfing WA calendar, Denmark is renowned for its quality breaks and breathtaking scenery. The three-day event will bring together a broad mix of surfers, from Under-18 Juniors to Over-70 Grand Legends, with 13 divisions to be contested and a pathway to the Australian Longboard Titles in Tweed, NSW up for grabs.
Competitors will travel from as far north as Exmouth and as far south as Esperance, all chasing state titles and spots on the WA team. With a strong field of past champions and promising newcomers, this year’s event promises classic matchups and fresh rivalries.
2023 Open Men’s winner Jack Medland (Dunsborough) returns to the line-up this year, set to face tough competition from former State Champion Ryan Clark (Dunsborough), as well as Scott Trew (Gabbadah) and Evan Ledger (Yallingup), all chasing glory in the 2025 title race.
In the Open Women’s draw, all eyes will be on Maddie Barrett (Cottesloe) to see if she can claim back-to-back titles. She will be challenged by a talented field including Georgia Young (Perth), Shae Sheridan (Dunsborough), Denver Young (Claremont) and Bridget Churack (Yallingup).
Also returning is current Over-45 Men’s Australian champion Paul Burke (Dunsborough), who is looking to hold onto his state title with a big performance in Denmark.
Long-range forecasts point to a mix of conditions across the three-day window at Parry’s Beach. Event organisers will look to make the most of the conditions, with finals set to wrap up over the weekend.
Denmark is one of the longest road trips on the Surfing WA events calendar. Surfing WA reminds all competitors and travelling surfers of the dangers of sending a text message or using a mobile phone while behind the wheel – Ditch the distraction and remember #NoTxtNoWrecks.

About West Coast Suspensions:
Built for the road less travelled, West Coast Suspensions (WCS) has been powering Australian adventures for over a century. What began in 1924 as Jenkins Springs in the heart of Perth has grown into one of the country’s most trusted names in suspension for 4WD, truck, and commercial vehicle suspension.
Proudly WA-born and bred, WCS continues to support those who chase performance when it matters most. Just like the surfers exploring WA’s remote coastlines, WCS thrives on reliability, resilience, and the freedom to roam – values that have cemented its reputation for over the past 100 years.
